Scientific Name: Gyrinocheilus Aymonieri

Family: Gyrinocheilidae

Ideal Temperature: 78°F (25°C)

Swimming Region: Bottom

Adult Length: 4-5 inches

Feeding Habits: Fresh zucchini, spinach, green beans, peas, and algae. Frozen vegetable diet and freeze dried algae wafers and pellets also accepted.

Compatibility: A peaceful loner when they are juveniles. Adults tend to be very aggressive and territorial.

Habitat: India-Thailand. Moderately decorated with rocks, live plants and driftwood.

Chinese Algae Eaters will sometimes attach themselves to the other fish in the aquarium and cause skin wounds. Siamese Algae Eaters are still the better option for algae control in planted aquariums.
